WELCOME TO PEGASUS PLAYSCHEME

We provide a Good Quality support and services for children with a variety of severe and complex disabilities. We operate a 3-week summer playscheme, offering activities for children with disabilities and severe learning difficulties. Each child is supported by a local able-bodied teenager.

We provide open access for disabled children giving them opportunities to meet new people, make new friends, and experience a wide variety of different fun and risk-taking activities in a safe environment.

  • Our aim is to explore the working cultures in which peer support flourishes, offering targeted level activities and we manage practices that support its success.
  • Play engages the senses. Children discover their world and how to fit into it.
  • The more they play the more they develop.
  • It is important to create opportunities for all levels of social interaction.
  • We offer that environment where children can just be children, explore encourage and build relationships.
  • Being developed and led by community-based individuals and/or groups.
  • Providing trips and outings to unique and local locations.

COVID-19 SUPPORT

How Pegasus coped with COVID-19

During isolation our children, parents, carers, committee all did our level best to keep our children amused and busy or finding some forgotten skills bringing them to light. It did seem to bring out the very best in us, Learning new skills has to be the bonus of self-isolation.

Whether it was delivering Care packages, socially distanced of course, or Easter eggs, we tried to keep Pegasus in the minds of our children letting them know we were still there for them. We even managed a full three weeks during 2021, by the skin of our teeth, covid free in between lockdowns of course.
